It is the great privilege of the Belgian Branch of the International Fiscal Association (IFA) to host the 2027 European Region Conference, which will take place in Antwerp. The conference venue will be A Room with a Zoo, a unique and prestigious conference centre located in the heart of the city, adjacent to Antwerp’s magnificent historic Central Station.
Each year, the IFA European Region Conference brings together leading representatives from both the public and private sectors, including international tax practitioners, tax administration officials, members of the judiciary, academics, policymakers, and representatives of governmental and non-governmental organisations. The conference provides a distinguished platform for the exchange of ideas, the discussion of current developments, and the strengthening of professional relationships within the international tax community.
The scientific programme for the 2027 conference will focus on two highly topical subjects. The first examines the current state of tax certainty in an increasingly uncertain geopolitical environment, exploring the challenges faced by taxpayers, advisers, administrations, and policymakers alike. The second addresses recent developments and emerging trends in the field of wealth taxation. Both subjects will be analysed from multiple perspectives in a series of panel discussions featuring renowned experts from a wide range of jurisdictions. In addition to its substantive programme, the conference will offer numerous opportunities for networking, professional interaction, and engaging discussions among participants.
